"Marijuana Myths"

Marijuana is not physically addictive like opium and alcohol.
"Physical dependence has not been demonstrated. Little, if any, psychological dependence is present in most marijuana smokers." (U.S. National Commission on Marijuana)

No one in the history of mankind has ever died from marijuana use.
"Nearly all medicines have toxic potentially lethal effects. But marijuana is not such a substance. There is no record in the extensive medical-literature describing a proven, documented cannabis-induced fatality." (U.S. Drug Enforcement Administraion)

Marijuana use does not lead to harder drugs.
"Most drug users begin their drug use with alcohol or tobacco, and usually at a time when it is illegal to do so." (U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy)

Marijuana use does not cause Amotivational Syndrome.
"Objective studies of heavy smokers of potent preparations have not linked marijuana with amotivational syndrome. Nearly all heavy cannabis smokers are indistinguishable from their peers in social behavior, work performance, mental status and overall life style." (U.S. National Commission on Marijuana)

Marijuana use does not cause brain damage.
"No objective evidence has been demonstrated that even very heavy, very long-term hashish use causes organic brain damage." (U.S. National Commission on Marijuana)

Marijuana use does not cause crime.
"If anything, the effects observed suggest that marijuana may be more likely to neutralize criminal behavior and to militate against the commission of aggressive acts." (U.S. National Commission on Marijuana)

Getting caught, and the consequences that follow!
