The Glenwood Smith Band

"These are the musicians I am indebted to, not only for their help with these recordings, but for their friendship and the memories we've shared over the years. Every one of them is here because they are the most phenomenal artists I have ever had the privilege to work with in all of my years as a musician!
"Since 9-9-99, when we first started recording Calm The Fire, these people have been the steam driving my machine. They have put up with my madness, they have tolerated my demands and they have contributed to this, my dream, in ways that I could never have imagined.
"I could never thank them enough or begin to repay them for all that they have, and all that they are helping me accomplish." Glenwood Smith

Jere Stryker
None of this could be possible if not for Jere, who is not only owner of Stryker Studio, but also the drummer, percussionist, vocalist, engineer and idea consultant! Jere and I have worked and played together in The Dizzy Jazz Band, Hot Tap, I.C.U., Real Time, Jo and the Lounge Lizards, The Backporch Band, Bad Influence and The GSB. I could never thank him enough for all he's taught me musically, all he's helping me accomplish and the eternal friendship I share with him and Gracie!

Jo Hill

Jo has performed with me in the bands Dreams, Jo and the Lounge Lizards, Seeds of Change and The GSB, as well as helped me at talent events, weddings and parties. She's the woman with a golden voice who happily sacrificed the lead mike (temporarily) for back-ups. Jo was our initial artist and designer, not only putting together the artwork for the first three albums, but also getting glenwoodsmith.com started, something that forever changed my life. I couldn't have done this without her time and friendship, and I could never tell her enough how much she'll always mean to me!

Kristen Nicole Smith

Kristen may be the youngest member in The GSB, but she's no less of a creative artist. She has not only contributed to the band and to these recordings as a vocalist, but also as a musician and a songwriter. She's also an inspiration to the rest of us, as well as to a number of the compositions. One of the most rewarding moments of my life was recording Kristen's first song on my first CD. God has truly blessed me!

Mark Earp

Mark is the most creative guitarist I've ever worked with! Since I joined him in the band Highway, he has worked in three of my original projects, The Trio, Dreams and The GSB as well as recorded and collaborated on many songs, some which can be heard here. The skills, friendship, and the enourmous amount of time and energy he gave to these projects made them the songs I'm proud to let you listen to!

Wayne Adams

Bubba was the bassist in my first "working" original band Dreams. We have also worked together live and in the studio in the bands Trix, Bad Influence and The GSB. His steadfast consistency, whether his gift on the guitar or his faithful friendship throughout all the years, makes Wayne as true as the stars in the sky!

Todd Pinekenstein

Todd is an eternal part of my musical life. He has helped me record hundreds of my songs over the years. I have joined him onstage with Brother Aesop and the Fables, The Seeds of Change, The Indica Boys and The GSB. He reintroduced me to the wonders of canoeing. And he was my first friend to believe in and help make The GSB real.

Jeff Hoff

Jeff, the man with the magical guitar, and I have worked together on stage in the groups Headquarters and Bad Influence, and in the studio since becoming friends. He can also be heard as a singer and lead guitarist for Blues Mobile and Even Odds rockin throughout VA and NC.

Randy Poindexter

Randy is a true musician! If it has strings he can make incredibly beautiful music come out of it. He is also an artist who has hand crafted all of the instruments he plays. I'm proud to have him helping me. Music and laughs forever!

Tom Mathewson

Tommy helped me in some of my earlier recording efforts. He's an excellent artist and friend, and I consider it an honor to have him help me on two, and hopefully more of my albums. Check Tommy out with the band BackStreet throughout southside VA, and NC.

Darin Hill

Spliffwood is the lead guitarist and the inspiration behind the true story "Break The Chain". He was also the guitarist for Danville's only anti-prohibition band Seeds of Change (later The Indica Boys), one of my favorite projects!

Chuck Adams

Chuck has been one of my close friends for ages. We have worked in the studio, and in the bands Hot tap, I.C.U., Real Time, and The Big Heads.

Rick Scott

Rick was the lead guitarist for Trix when i joined the band. He lives by the creed "rockabilly and blues", of which he's a true believer.

Barry Crane

Barry and I have been friends and worked together as well as share a love of canoeing. He has played bass, rhythm and lead guitars in The Fuzz, Freeway, Dreams and The GSB.

Joseph A. Schmidtt III

Sparky is the lead vocalist and harp man for the band Maxwell Street in southside VA. When I heard his work I immediately asked him for his help. When you hear it you'll know why I'm thankful he said yes.

Jim Talbott

Jim helped me do some of my first multi-track recording at his home studio, as well as worked with me as the lead guitarist in the bands The Fuzz and Hot Tap.
Here's to all the late night jam sessions!

David Walton

David and I have worked together in the bands Trix and Dreams. He's an excellent guitarist with a killer ear for a song, and was one of the first people I called when I started working on the "Calm The Fire" project.

I hope that you will take the time and listen to some of our efforts. And I hope that you enjoy some of this small sampling of the Glenwood Smith song collection.
Feel free to contact the band about purchasing any of the CDs, or just to let us know what you think.
